Genetic Testing for Samoyeds

Here is a quick rundown of breed specific disorders that have genetic testing available for Samoyeds:

• X-Linked PRA (Required for CHIC)

• Retinal Dysplasia/Oculoskeletal Dysplasia (Required for CHIC)

• Degenerative Myelopathy

• Hereditary Nephritis

• Familial Enamel Hypoplasia

To test for each of these diseases, the following tests should be ordered:

• Optimal Selection tests for X-Linked PRA, Degenerative Myelopathy, and Hereditary Nephritis (among other testing that can be helpful for making breeding decisions).
